AbSorber was founded in 1999 based on inventions made by Associate Professor Jan Holgersson at the Department of Clinical Immunology, and Associate Professor Suchitra Holgersson at the Department of Transplantation Surgery, Karolinska University Hospital, Huddinge, Sweden.
The company initially focused on xenotransplantation, developing techniques for removing antibodies against alpha-Gal as well as for reducing the immunogenicity of neural stem cells that can potentially be used for treating neurological disorders.
Currently, AbSorber has one product on the market, XM-ONE®, a CE marked and FDA registered crossmatchtest for the detection of anti endothelial cell antibodies. A number of products for allogeneic transplantation are under development.
