At the American Transplant Congress in San Diego the organizers held a workshop of the subject of Endothelial Cell Crossmatch. The workshop was chaired by Dr Kathryn Tinckam, University Health Network, Toronto and Dr Elaine Reed, David Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA Immunogenetics Center, Los Angeles.
During the workshop data was presented from Northwestern University Hospital in Chicago on 53 patients tested before transplantation with XM-ONE. Dr Anat Tambur, Director of the Transplant Immunology Laboratory at Northwestern is continuing recruitment and is also investigating the clinical significance of their findings. At the workshop it was recognized that XM-ONE® positivity highly correlates to clinical outcome and that the findings in the multicenter study published in Transplantation, February 2009 are encouraging when moving forward to a wider clinical use of the test.
